New Fertility method targets women with cancer
New treatment helps preserve women eggs without delaying chemotherapy
BARCELONA - A new method may aid newly diagnosed cancer patients preserve their eggs, and perhaps their fertility, prior to chemotherapy, German researchers said on Press Conference.
At present, a lot of women collect and freeze some of their eggs to try to have kids after their cancer treatment, which can make them infertile. The procedure can take up to 6 or 8 weeks.
But if a cancer diagnosis comes at the beginning of the menstrual cycle, many women are not capable to delay chemotherapy and preserve their eggs, Michael Von Wolf told the European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology.
