Gilead AIDS Drugs Will Be Tested To See If They Can Prevent HIV
Washington (dbTechno) - Gilead Sciences Inc. will be having their AIDS drugs tested to distinguish if they can work to stop healthy people from contracting HIV infections.
The AIDS Vaccine Advocacy Coalition declared that over the course of the next half-decade or so, there will be seven large studies which will be carried out, with many already starting.
The idea behind the reports is to see if these AIDS drugs have any impact on all in preventing HIV in individuals who are at an increased risk of infection.
Currently, the AIDS drugs from Gilead Sciences Inc. are used to treat the virus, and help get better their quality of life.
This new scomes as the 17th International AIDS Conference kicks off in Mexico City, as thousands come together to finds to ways to battle and prevent HIV/AIDS around the world.
Currently, the United Nations’ UNAIDS is reporting that 33 million people are infected with HIV around the world, with 2.7 million new cases every year.
The expectation is that these trials will disclose some very positive results, as Gilead’s Viread and Truvada drugs will be put to the test.
