Arthritis is defined as a group of conditions characterized by inflammation and swelling in the joints causing pain, difficulty in movement, and more. Arthritic diseases include rheumatoid arthritis and psoriatic arthritis, two autoimmune diseases; septic arthritis, caused by joint infection; and osteoarthritis, a degenerative joint disease.
Arthritis is associated with pain in the joints. In such a situation, other medical symptoms such as fever, breathlessness, skin problems, are also tested to confirm arthritis. For example, monoarthritis with fever indicates septic arthritis.
